Serving president Nicolas Maduro won the presidential elections in Venezuela. He was reelected for a third six-year term. Elvis Amoroso, President of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela, announced this—based on the voting results.

Amoroso publicized the first NIS ballot, according to which 5,150,092 voters, or 51.2% of those who voted, supported Maduro after 80% of the votes were counted.

Maduro's main challenger, far-right political parties’ candidate Edmundo Gonzalez, received 4,445,978 votes, or 44.2%, while the other eight candidates combined received 4.6% of the vote.
