Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan's working visit to Cyprus started Monday with his participation in the annual conference of heads of diplomatic missions of Cyprus. The event was held at the invitation of the Cypriot FM, and brought together about Cypriot 50 ambassadors, as well as the leadership of the country’s foreign ministry.

Mirzoyan delivered introductory remarks, after which he responded to a number of questions of interest of those in attendance and noted, in particular, that Armenia plans to establish a permanent diplomatic mission in Cyprus.

Also, the Armenian FM thanked his Cyprus colleague for the invitation to this conference, which is the first of its kind.

Next, Minister Mirzoyan presented Armenia's foreign policy priorities and the steps being taken to implement them, as well as the country’s democratic reforms and cooperation with international partners.

In addition, Mirzoyan pointed to Armenia’s existing challenges, which are regional as well. Reference was also made to the processes of normalization of Armenia’s relations with its neighbors, including the efforts made towards the finalization of the peace treaty with Azerbaijan and the importance of concluding it.

The opportunities to be provided through the implementation of the Crossroads of Peace project developed by the Armenian government were also brought to the attention of the attendees.

The ambitious agenda of the Armenia-EU partnership, the achievements recorded in the recent period, and the upcoming tasks and prospects were touched upon, too.

Views were exchanged also on cooperation between Armenia and Cyprus on multilateral platforms.
