Ramzan Kadyrov, head of the Chechen Republic—which is part of Russia, has called people who demand a ban on wearing the hijab in Russia "enemies of Islam," and promised to kill anyone who tells his daughter to remove her headscarf. Kadyrov stated this at the Chechen government’s Cabinet meeting, the video of which was posted on his Telegram channel.

"I will kill on the spot, I will shoot on the spot whoever tells my daughter to take off her hijab, whoever it is. He is an enemy, my personal enemy, the enemy of Islam," said the head of Chechnya. And at that moment, Kadyrov's daughter, Aishat Kadyrova, deputy PM of Chechnya, is seen in the video.

Kadyrov noted that many guests of various faiths come to Chechnya.

“We don't care about their dress code; we care about our [residents'] clothes. We call, we do not punish, but we encourage people to tie a headscarf," Kadyrov stressed.

Chechnya is standing up against the "slackers running after the headscarf," Kadyrov noted, adding that "we will stand up against these devils". At the same time, however, he expressed his opposition to wearing a burqa—which covers the face.
