About 3,000 trucks, including 800 Armenian trucks, have accumulated at the Upper Lars checkpoint on the Russian side of the Russia-Georgia border. Vahan Hakobyan, customs attaché of the Armenian embassy in Russia, informed Armenian News-NEWS.am about this on Monday.

He added that this is more objective information than the previously disseminated information that there are about 4,000 trucks, including about 1,100 Armenian ones, in the queue.

"The real number is less," assured Hakobyan.

The customs attaché of the Armenian embassy in Russia noted that there are no long queues of vehicles entering Russia at the Upper Lars checkpoint, and that they are processed and cleared through customs very quickly.

According to him, these queues are due to the current tourist season and the resultant sharp increase in the flow of passenger cars with which Russians go on vacation.

The Upper Lars motorway is the only land route that connects Russia with Armenia.
