Iran's Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani had a telephone conversation with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad on Wednesday.

During the conversation, both sides discussed and exchanged views on the recent assassination of the political leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran.

Bagheri Kani noted that Israel has become a "source of instability and insecurity" with its criminal activities in the West Asia region—in Yemen, Tehran, and Beirut, adding that the US and some European countries have caused instability in the region by supporting Israel's “terrorist activities”.

Commenting on Iran's decision to take legal, decisive, and deterrent actions against Israel after the assassination of Haniyeh in the Iranian capital Tehran, the acting deputy FM said that Iran will not allow Israel to abuse the stability and security of the region "in accordance with its illegal objectives and interests." In turn, the Syrian FM strongly condemned the "terrorism of the Israelis,” declaring his country's unconditional support to Iran in this matter.
