YEREVAN. – All Armenian TV channels should have at least one news program and one kids’ show accompanied by the sign language translation. This amendment to the law on TV and Radio was proposed by Armenian Minister of Justice Hrayr Tovmasyan.
This requirement was earlier enforced only on Public channel. The order does not apply for those channels, which do not have news or kids programs. However, more than 90% of the Armenian channels have such programs.
According to the Minister, the change is made to secure freedom of information for people with hearing disabilities.
