Hraparak daily of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: It is known that before the next national elections, the authorities will implement amendments in the Electoral Code, which has already been put into circulation.

It turns out that the authorities intend to break all the anti-legal and anti-moral records they have set and, in fact, propose to establish a provision by which the government, in the person of [PM] Nikol Pashinyan, will be able to declare a state of emergency [in the country] one or two days after the vote, when the preliminary results of the vote become known, before making the record, and calling a new vote on that basis.

"If the martial law or state of emergency was declared after the beginning of the period for nominating candidates for the NA or the local government elections until the moment of summing up the preliminary results of the elections and validating them with the protocol, then the electoral process is considered suspended by force of law from the moment of declaring a martial law or state of emergency, after which the resumption of the electoral process necessarily implies the organizing and holding of a new vote."

This means that Pashinyan is not sure that he will be re-elected, so he is launching such a change in the law to, let’s say, cancel the results of the elections under the name of demonstrations or border tensions.
