Israeli army tanks have moved beyond the border buffer zone with Syria and were spotted 20 kilometers from Damascus, reports Al Mayadeen television of Lebanon.

These tanks crossed the buffer zone where Israel had deployed troops earlier this week near Qatana city, which is 21 kilometers from the Syrian capital.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have not made any comments yet, added Al Mayadeen.

Earlier, the IDF press service had informed that their infantry and armored troops were deployed for protection along the border with Syria, and their paratroopers were in the buffer zone to prevent threats.

On December 8, the IDF had announced the deployment of their forces in the buffer zone with Syria. And Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had noted that these actions were taken in connection with the latest events in Syria, and they were defensive and temporary.
