Turkey's armed forces have been brought to combat readiness in connection with a possible operation against the militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Syria, military sources say, reports Turkiye daily.

Turkish foreign minister Hakan Fidan announced earlier that Ankara has presented an ultimatum to the PKK militants in Syria, and if these calls are ignored, a military operation could be carried out.

"Ankara, which demands the new Syrian administration to take necessary measures against the [PKK] terrorist organization, continues to prepare for any scenario. The [Turkish] troops on the border [with Syria] have been brought to combat readiness for a possible operation," wrote the aforesaid daily, and noted that Ankara is preparing for all possible scenarios—and a military operation is one of them.
