YEREVAN. - The average salary as of November 2011 amounted to $300 (AMD 114,700) in Armenia increasing by 6.3% over the year.

Public sector average salary makes $240 (AMD 92,000) and is inferior to the salary in private sector - $370 (AMD 141,000). Private sector wages increase faster than those of public sector.

While counted in Armenian drams salary increases due to depreciation of AMD. So, in July, the average salary was AMD 118.3 thousand ($322 at the rate of $1/ AMD 367), in September AMD 114 thousand ($306 at the rate of $1/ AMD 372). Last November the average salary was AMD 108 thousand or $299.

Note that in dollar terms, the average monthly salary in Armenia reached its peak in December 2010 making $379.
