France should be proud of passing a bill penalizing the genocide denial, MP from French Union for a Popular Movement Christian Estrosi said on Thursday.

Honoring Armenian people, the French will contribute to the reconciliation process between Armenia and Turkey, he added.

“I do not see any arguments against the bill. Historians say it was a planned ethnic cleansing. The bill says we cannot ignore Armenians’ pain. It will help Turkey face its history,” he said at the debates on bill criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide.  

According to him, the draft bill is like a hand extended to the Turkish democrats. “I will vote for,” said Estrosi.
