YEREVAN. - Israel may attack Iran, but there is little likelihood, military expert Artsrun Hovhannisyan said at a press conference on Saturday adding that it may cause serious circumstances for the region and for the world.

According to the expert, it is difficult to foresee development of the events, as some factors make it inevitable, meantime others just do not let it happen.

As regards possible military actions against Iran, Hovhannisyan believes that they are fraught with serious consequences.

“Iran’s military power yields only to Israel. Tehran will hardly do something in case of air attack. However, it has other leverages through which it can give a response. It may attack Azerbaijan and Turkey if they directly or indirectly run a military campaign against Iran,” the expert said.

“Unfreezing of local conflicts is possible. As a result, escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not ruled out as well,” he said.

If Iran is attacked, it will reshape balance of forces in the region or even in the entire world as there are many states interested in.

“We should not exclude even the start of the World War Three,” he concluded.
