French Senate has started discussion of the bill criminalizing genocide denial recognized by French law, including the Armenian Genocide.

The first to deliver speeches are Minister for relationship with Parliament Patrick Ollier and representatives of the Commission on Law Jean Pierre Sueur. Then 13 Senators will take the floor.

Last December the French Parliament adopted the bill penalizing denial of genocides, including the Armenian Genocide. The law, in case of violation, intends one year of imprisonment and a fine amounting to €45,000.
