During the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit in Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe, President Vladimir Putin of Russia and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia discussed the growth of trade  between the two countries.

Putin noted that membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) opens markets for member states and provides economic benefits. As an example, the Russian leader cited the increase in trade between his country and Armenia, and asked Pashinyan about the respective trade figures.

“This year it has already reached 4 billion [US dollars],” Pashinyan replied.

“No, more,” Putin disagreed with a smile.

The Armenian PM cited his data from last year as well, but the two leaders’ data did not match in this case either.

“Last year it was about 9 billion [US dollars],” Pashinyan noted.

“More. It was higher last year, and it will be even higher this year; that’s just obvious,” the Russian president replied to the Armenian premier.
