PARIS. – French Constitutional Council will cast a verdict on bill criminalizing denial of genocides, including the Armenian Genocide, in early spring.

More possible dates are Feb. 29 or March 1, Turkish Sabbah reports.

The Council needs minimum 7 votes for the verdict. It accepted the appeal against the bill on Tuesday by 72 French Senators (minimum 60 votes are required to appeal a bill).

Armenian News-NEWS.am has earlier informed that French Senate adopted the bill on Jan. 23, while French National Assembly had passed it on Dec. 22 last year. The President could have promulgated it during 15 days, but he preferred to wait till the Council’s decision.
