Prominent Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi has declared jihad against the United States and Israel following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Mehr News Agency reports.
“Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi stated that avenging the blood of the martyred leader is a religious duty for Muslims around the world,” the Iranian outlet wrote.
Iran’s Supreme Leader was killed as a result of joint U.S. and Israeli attacks on the country that began on February 28.
