Turkey’s Minister for EU Affairs, Egemen Bagis, stated during an event that he will say, likewise in France, that there was no Armenian Genocide.

During the event Bagis was asked to comment on the investigation which Switzerland has launched against him for denying the Armenian Genocide. He argued that he cannot think differently about a matter wherever he goes. “Not every unpleasantness is genocide. I said this in Switzerland, [and] I will say [this] in France, too. I will say [this] everywhere in the world. The documents at our disposal show that there was no genocide. Let them prove [otherwise], [and] then we will talk,” Egemen Bagis said. He added that he speaks with such confidence because Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan supports him, Mynet website of Turkey informs.

To note, the Prosecutor’s Office of Switzerland’s Canton of Zurich launched an investigation against Egemen Bagis. The proceedings were launched after when Bagis had stated in Zurich, and while returning from the World Economic Forum in Davos, that there was no Armenian Genocide.
