Armenia is not yet ready to begin the process of joining the European Union. This was stated on March 23 by Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan at a session of the standing parliamentary Committee on European Integration, during the presentation of the report on the progress and results of the implementation of the Government of the Republic of Armenia's program (2021–2026) for 2025.

According to him, despite the adoption of the law "On initiating the EU accession process," work is currently focused primarily on the implementation of various programs and reforms, as a result of which the republic must begin to meet European Union standards. "At the moment when the country begins to meet European standards, a political decision will be made on this matter. At this stage, no such decision has been made," Kostanyan noted.
