Armenia’s Ministry of Diaspora unveiled a Virtual Armenian Diaspora Museum on their website which contains so many factual errors, inconsistencies and inaccuracies that if it were meant to strengthen the image of the Armenian Diaspora it does the exact opposite, Ara Khachatourian writes in Asbarez.

The virtual museum highlights two very important issues:

1. The disability to distinguish the diaspora as a political union formatted due to the genocide and as communities which were formatted due to the choices of individuals who wished to leave their country.

2. Not recognizing the diaspora as a union which keeps the national ideals and aspirations of the Armenian Nation alive.

The content of the virtual museum is just information which can be obtained through Google or Wikipedia.

The Web site is a simple storage of facts and numbers most of which are not even accurate and reduces the Armenian diaspora to no more than the pockets of Armenians living in different parts of the world.

The Virtual Armenian Diaspora Museum is an insult against the Armenian diaspora. The Ministry of Diaspora must remedy this situation and eliminate the Web site and if they wish for such an important repository they should hire experts who will create a website worthy of our national aspirations.
