Armenian businessman MP Samvel Alexanyan will respond to opposition member Nikol Pashinyan’s call for a television debate upon his (Alexanyan’s) return from Dubai, where he is currently vacationing, Alexanyan himself told Armenian News-NEWS.am.    

“When I return, I will decide whether [debating] with him is worth it. But he, too, could withdraw his candidacy prior to my return, because [opposition Heritage Party leader] Raffi Hovannisian already withdrew his candidacy. He likewise might not withstand the competition and pull out,” Samvel Alexanyan said, and added he will return to Armenia next week.      

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, opposition bloc Armenian National Congress activist Nikol Pashinyan invited ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP-businessman Samvel Alexanyan to a TV debate on Monday, Pashinyan said at a press conference on the same day.

The two are running for a parliamentary seat from capital Yerevan’s Electoral District No. 7. Pashinyan promised that a heated battle is expected. He also stressed that the RPA does not consider Alexanyan a businessman, hence he is a political figure. And in this context, Pashinyan invited him for a television debate.
