YEREVAN.- Earth Hour campaign will be held in Armenia on Saturday.

The campaign held with the support of Armenian office of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Nature Protection Ministry, municipality, HSBC bank and Congress hotel.

Non-essential lights will be turned off for an hour on Saturday from 20:30 to 21:30.

Last year the action was joined by over 5200 cities in 135 countries, including 89 capitals.

This year Yerevan, Kapan and Vanazor join the campaign.

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change. Only a year later the Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries/territories participating.
