YEREVAN. – The US dollar’s average exchange rate against the Armenian dram (AMD) was AMD 391.75/$1 at NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange on Monday, that is, the first work day of April. So, the dram is continuing to lose value against the dollar.

The total sales were just one, and worth $200 thousand. This is because the banks’ exchange rate offer rose all the way to AMD 392.5/$1.

Considering the small volume of trading, we can conclude that Armenia’s Central Bank is not yet intervening in the exchange rate. And in all probability, this is due to the expectations that the market’s dollar offer will increase in parallel with the parliamentary election season becoming more active.

The exchange offices have raised the dollar’s purchase exchange rate all the way to AMD 391/$1, which is a record for 2012. The US currency can still be acquired at AMD 392/$1, but the number of exchange offices with such rate is gradually reducing.
