Turkey’s Yalova City Hall completely disassembled the monument devoted to renowned Armenian musician and composer Hovhannes Tuncboyaciyan (Onno Tunc), who was the older brother of musician Arto Tuncboyaciyan.

The monument, which was erected in 2002 and in honor of Tuncboyaciyan who had died in a plane crash sixteen years ago, was subjected to numerous vandalism over the course of the years. And fifteen days ago, unidentified people had taken out the letters on the monument, Radikal daily of Turkey writes.

Yalova Mayor informed that it was decided to dismantle the monument, since it was in a disastrous condition. He claimed to have spoken with Onno’s family members and the monument’s sculptor, and said that a more beautiful monument would be erected in two months.
