YEREVAN. – The leader of opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC), Armenia’s First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan does not deny the possibility of forming a coalition with other political forces in the new Armenian Parliament. As Ter-Petrosyan announced during the rally of ANC on Thursday the cooperation with Republican Party (RPA) and Orinats Yerkir, which are ruling coalition members is completely excluded. According to the opposition leader, the other coalition member party Prosperous Armenia (PAP) is not part of the ruling regime. Levon Ter-Petrosyan called the cooperation with Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) and PAP in the joint election headquarter for supervising elections to be a significant progress which will reduce the chances of the ruling authorities for rigging the election results. Eight political parties and one block have presented their nominations – Republican Party of Armenian, Prosperous Armenia Party, Orinats Yerkir, opposition Armenian National Congress, opposition Heritage Party, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, the Communist Party of Armenia, Democratic Party of Armenia and United Armenians Party. For entering the National Assembly, parties must poll over 5% of votes, while blocks - over 7%. The election campaign will be held till May 5 - the day prior to elections when campaigning is banned. The parliamentary elections will be held from 8 am to 8 pm on May 6, 2012.
