YEREVAN.- Armenian activists call to gather to protect market in the center of Yerevan.

The photos of market which is being pulled down were spread via social networks on Sunday evening.

In their statement, the activists said “vandalism continued” despite pledges of the government to stop dismantling.

The group “Let’s save Close Market” called to meet at 11 a.m. on Monday to discuss the issue.

As reported earlier, historic market in the center of Yerevan was purchased by MP Samvel Aleksanyan. According to rumors, it will be turned into a supermarket.

The market was created by architect Grigor Aghababyan and engineer Hamazasp Arakelyan. The market was recognized one of the best architectural constructions in Armenia.
