BAKU. – Singer Loreen, who represented Sweden and became the winner at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, which was held in the Azerbaijani capital city Baku, criticized the Azerbaijani authorities for persecuting journalists.

Specifically, Loreen wrote in her Facebook account and expressed a concern over the death of Azerbaijani photojournalist Mehman Huseyinov, whom official Baku had accused of using violence against the police.

Loreen noted that Mehman was simply doing his job by photographing the events being staged in Baku in the name of freedom and at the time when Eurovision 2012 was being held, Contact.az informs.

“Following our meeting in Baku with the Azerbaijani law enforcement, we were hopeful that the situation would improve for them. But now we see just the opposite,” the singer wrote in her Facebook account.
