UN Mission on Syria is suspended due to escalation of violence in the country, chief of the mission Robert Mood said on Saturday.

Suspension of UN activities is the last sign to indicate that peace plan elaborated by UN special envoy Kofi Annan does not work. Both authorities and opposition fighters neglect ceasefire, RIA Novosti reports.

According to Mood, observers will no longer be conducting patrols and will stay in their locations until getting further instructions as continuation of monitoring is too dangerous for them.
