PARIS. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic representative in France Hovhannes Gevorgyan gave an interview to Le Huffington Post touching upon the conflict settlement and Karabakh’s expectations from the world community. Armenian News-NEWS.am publishes an extract from it.

“Azerbaijan is one of the worst states on democracy and human rights defence,” Gevorgyan commented on why Karabakh settlement talks appeared in a deadlock. “Support to militant and expansive rhetoric and actions with regard to Karabakh, allows the Aliyev regime to astray the society’s attention from numerous restrictions of freedom and corruption, which it is subjected to.”

Asked whether the world community helps in settling the conflict, Gevorgyan said that the OSCE Minsk Group, including Russia, France and the United States, attempts to support the sides involved in settling the conflict. However, Azerbaijan refuses to admit Armenia and even run talks with the state.

It presents the conflict as a territorial dispute between the two states and not a liberation struggle of enslaved population. In addition, the world community knows very well that Azerbaijani leaders have no intentions for peace, at the same time it avoids accepting the Azerbaijani attitude. Nagorno-Karabakh expects the world community to promote the peace, security and democracy, while the state’s future is well-pictured.
