YEREVAN. – In December 2012, a total of 82,700 visitors arrived in Armenia and 54,000 people departed from the country via capital city Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport. Accordingly, the positive balance between those who arrived and those who departed in December of the year past is 28,700.

Owing to such record number of visitor influx in December 2012, in line with the data by the Armenian General Department of Civil Aviation, Armenia had a positive balance last year in terms of arrivals and departures. A total of 845,700 people departed from, but 846,100 people arrived in, Zvartnots in the year past. This is the first time, in the past five years, when more people arrived in Armenia’s main airport than departed from there.

To note, however, the January 2013 balance was in negative territory again, as 60,100 people departed from, whereas 52,300 people arrived in, Zvartnots. This negative balance is expected to grow in the coming months and on the account of those who head on to work abroad.
