YEREVAN. – The establishment of a knowledge-based society has a key place in the strategic programs of the Government of Armenia.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan noted the aforesaid at the European Association of Higher Education Institutions (EURASHE) General Assembly, which is held at Yerevan State University.

“The Armenian academic circles’ engagement in the Association is fully consistent with the policy of large-scale reforms in the higher education system in our country. This is a good opportunity to deepen our cooperation—in the higher education sector—with the European countries,” Abrahamyan specifically said.

As per the PM, the establishment of a knowledge-based society in Armenia is important considering the country’s limited natural and financial resources.

The premier added that the holding of such events and meetings in Armenia is particularly appreciable.

Subsequently, EURASHE President Andreas Orphanides awarded Armenia’s PM with the European University Cyprus Medal of Honor, and for his giving a special attention to the education sector.
