The Netherlands' House of Representatives passed a decision stressing importance of achieving shared agreement on the past between Armenia and Turkey.

In their decision, the Dutch lawmakers expressed confidence that mutual understanding on the 1915 events is necessary for progress in relations between the two countries.

They express hope that the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial in the Netherlands and elsewhere will contribute to the formation of mutual respect among the communities involved.

The lawmakers instruct the government, in line with the decision made in 2004, to continue to urge the Government of Turkey to give new impetus to seeking ways of reconciliation and rapprochement with the Armenian government in bilateral format and within EU context.
