In the lead-up to the 70th anniversary of the victory achieved in the Second World War, the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries, which includes Armenia, have issued a statement.

In particular, they called for paying tribute to those who had fallen during the fight against fascism, and continuing the search for the remains of soldiers and civilians that lived in Nazi camps.

“We value the courage of the people of Europe and of the whole world who resisted Nazism together with us, the contribution and support of our allies in the anti-Hitler coalition in achieving the common Victory,” the statement specifically reads.

In addition, the CIS leaders urged the world nations to oppose attempts to glorify Nazi movement, revive the ideology of fascism, and spread xenophobia and racism.
