YEREVAN. – The total price of vehicles imported into the Republic of Armenia (RA) from abroad has fallen by half in the first seven months of this year, as compared to the same period last year; this shows the state of the country’s economy, reported Haykakan Zhamanak daily.

“If the total value of the cars that were imported in the given period last year amounted to 221.6 million [US] dollars, this year this figure amounted to 111.8 million dollars.

“In the last 10 to 15 years, a sharp decline in car imports was recorded solely in 2009. (…). But that year a more than 14-percent economic downturn was officially recorded in Armenia. But this year, as RA Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan notes, we [i.e. Armenia] have a more than 4-percent economic growth,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
