YEREVAN. – There are about 100 thousand Armenian cultural monuments in Iran, and the Iranians treat them with the same attention and care as toward the Iranian cultural heritage.

Director of the Cultural Center of the Iranian Embassy in Armenia, Majid Meshki, stated the abovementioned at a press conference on Wednesday.

He added that Iranians respect the cultural heritage of the Armenians, since they have greatly contributed to the development of Iran.

“We want to show the Armenians’ service to the country where they have lived in and contributed to its development, for centuries,” Meshki said.

In turn, monument specialist Samvel Karapetyan, who is also chairman of the foundation that studies Armenian architecture, stated that during his scientific expedition to Iran between 2009 and 2012, he had collected samples of Armenian cultural heritage.

He informed that the photographs of fifty such samples will be displayed at an exhibition that will open Thursday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, and run for one month.

Karapetyan added that Iran’s treatment of Armenian monuments is exemplary, as compared to that of the other neighboring countries of Armenia.
