Mrs. Shoghik, the mother of Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Aleksanyan from Gyumri, Armenia, did not watch her son’s triumphant match at the 2016 Summer Olympics that are held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“I don’t watch my son’s matches; I get very nervous; then when I know the result, my heart calms down,” she told Armenian News-NEWS.am. “In general, I don’t watch Artur’s fights on TV. My son’s successes are even beyond happiness for me.”

Artur’s brother, Rafayel, also does not talk a lot. He watched his brother’s match Tuesday at the Vardanants Square in Gyumri.

Artur Aleksanyan’s father, Gevorg, is with him in Rio. He told NEWS.am Sport immediately after the match that he is happy to become the father of an Olympic champion.

Armenia finally had an Olympic champion after 20 years. Artur Aleksanyan from Gyumri became the second Olympic champion in the history of independent Armenia.
