Armenian Ph.D. students have created a device for correcting signals in 4G connection.

Representative of the team of developers, Gor Mkrtchyan, who is a Ph.D. student at the Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics (IRPHE) of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, told Armenian News – NEWS.am that the device and its software help reduce the phase noise in the systems, which do not give signal coherence.

Multi-channel coherent systems (MIMO), namely the signals of the transmitting apparatus and the receiver, correspond by phase displacement. “But many systems of communication are assembled from cheaper components, which do not ensure signal coherence. Our device helps compensate this,” Mkrtchyan said.

The device constantly keeps track of the atmosphere and corrects the noisy signals while coding the reception and transmission signals. “This is very important for the basic stations of mobile connection. The atmosphere constantly changes there: subscribers move and the weather conditions change. But the communication quality shouldn’t suffer from this,” Mkrtchyan added.

National Instruments company provided the developers components for assembling the device.
