YEREVAN. – Today’s formal opposition political forces do not have any format that can create a serious competition for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia.

Caucasus Institute Deputy Director, political scientist Sergey Minasyan, said the abovementioned at a press conference on Wednesday.

Minasyan added that the rules of the existing political system in the country attest to this fact.

“We will see new announcements next week,” he stressed. “The political forces will pass to the final phase of the [forthcoming parliamentary] election campaign.

“Post-election processes also are possible; but I don’t think that they can be compared with the events in 2007 and 2008.”

The next parliamentary election in Armenia is slated for April 2.
