UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned terrorist attack at a shrine in the province of Sindh in the south of Pakistan, Xinhua reported.

Guterres expressed condolences to the government and the people of Pakistan and wished the injured people speedy recovery.

“The United Nations supports the Government of Pakistan in its fight against terrorism in full respect of international and human rights norms,” said a statement released by Guterres' spokesperson.

Earlier Thursday, a deadly suicide blast hit the shrine, killing at least 72 people while injuring 200 others. The extremist group Islamist State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
