Le Figaro published an article by British PM Theresa May uncovering principles of new partnership that she wants to build with France and Europeans after Brexit.

In the article May argues that the Britons voted for leaving the European Union, not Europe or self-isolation from the world. Referendum does not mean abandoning the values that the British people are sharing, she said.

In the article, Ms May said it was in France’s interest to help Britain secure a trade deal with the EU, because French companies benefit from €50 billion of annual trade between the two countries, the Independent reported.

Speaking about her upcoming talks with French Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, the PM said they would focus on Brexit and Russia, especially in the context of latter's actions in Ukraine.

The fight against terrorism is also likely be on the agenda.
