Finland's parliament rejected the civil initiative that required to cancel the same-sex marriage law. 120 MPs voted against that petition, reports the Russian service of BBC.

“The parliament confirms same-sex marriage to be 100 percent certain from here to eternity. Happy weddings," Green Party leader Ville Niinisto wrote on Twitter after the vote.

The law, that officially allows gay marriages in Finland was adopted in 2014. It will enter into force from March 1. Thereby, Finland will become the 12th European country, that allows gay marriages. The opponents of the law initiated a petition and collected more than 50 thousand signatures.
