The company Waymo, which was founded by Google to develop self-driving cars, filed a lawsuit against Uber and Otto. The lawsuit says that these companies use technologies stolen from Google for creating self-driving cars, reports Motor.

Waymo claims, that its former chief engineer Anthony Lewandowski, who later founded Otto, downloaded almost ten gigabytes of highly secret files via his office laptop.

Lewandowski allegedly copied 14 thousand documents, including drawings, various technical information, and test results to another hard drive and then formatted the office laptop. In addition, the lawsuit refers to similar cases with other employees who moved from Google to Uber or Otto.

Waymo notes, that they found out about the theft thanks to Lewandowski’s own fault - he accidentally sent a copy of an e-mail written for Uber to Google. The e-mail contains drawings of lidar systems developed by Uber, which are “strikingly” identical to Google’s lidar devices.
