Over the last four years, the percentage of child malnutrition has reduced from 6.8 to 5.8 percent in Armenia, says the report of UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on Europe and Central Asia.

In the early 90s, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the percentage of undernutrition in the republic was 27.3 percent. In 2010-12, it was estimated at 6.8 percent, this number now reaching 5.8 percent.

Together with this, in 1998-2010 the number of children with height stunting increased from 15.1 percent in 1998 to 20.8 percent in 2010. The number of children with wasting (low weight for height) problems rose from 3.3 to 4.2 percent.

Finally, the percentage of anaemia among children up to 5 years old grew from 27 to 33 percent over the same period.
