YEREVAN. – At least 188,851 Iranian tourists visited Armenia in 2016, Chair of the State Tourism Committee Zarmine Zeytuntsyan told reporters on Monday.

According to her, 144,160 Iranian tourists visited Armenia in 2015.

“In 2016, Armenia registered tourism growth, 31% of which is the share of Iranian tourists,” Zeytuntsyan emphasized adding that they are taking steps to ensure growth of Iranian’s visits to Armenia in 2017.

“Steps have been taken to make Armenia more attractive for tourists. Firstly, the website armeniatravel.am provides information on the events that take place in Armenia in connection with the Novruz holiday. Round the clock hotline, the numbers of which can be seen on seven billboards on Meghri-Yerevan highway, was launched. Besides, billboards include information about the nearest sights,” Chair of the State Tourism Committee noted.
