YEREVAN. – The Armenian-Tajik Business Forum got underway Wednesday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia. The event has brought together representatives from about 100 Armenian and 36 Tajik companies.

In his welcoming remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms of Armenia, Vache Gabrielyan, pointed to Armenia’s better opportunities in several sectors of the economy.

“An advanced legislation to protect private investments is applied in the country,” he added.

Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan, Qahhorzoda Faiziddin Sattor, for his part, noted that Tajik companies can supply raw cotton for Armenia’s light industry, and primary aluminum for the foil rolling plant of the country.

He added that there are a number of free economic zones in Tajikistan, including not far from China.

“They can be useful for Armenian producers who want to work in the Chinese market,” noted the Tajik official.
