YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Diaspora of Armenia and the Office of the Cypriot Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Overseas Cypriots on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding, at the ministry. 

Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan underscored the signing of this international document between the two countries as a start of cooperation, the Ministry of Diaspora informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The Cypriot Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Overseas Cypriots, Fotis Fotiou, also highlighted the signing of this memorandum and considered it a historical event.  

In particular, he noted that Armenia and Cyprus have historical and cultural ties. Fotiou added that since Cyprus is a member of the European Union (EU), Armenia has a good friend in the EU, namely Cyprus. As per the Cypriot official, it can be said that Cyprus is Armenia’s ambassador to the EU.
