The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group hopes to continue the political dialogue between the conflicting sides.

Minsk Group Russian Co-Chair, Ambassador Igor Popov, stated about the abovementioned to reporters in Azerbaijan’s capital city of Baku, reported Haqqin.az news agency of the country.

“We have discussed this matter both in Baku and in [Armenia’s capital city of] Yerevan,” Popov stressed. “As a result of these discussions, we can say that the presidents of the two countries are in favor of continuing the peace talks.”

But he conveyed the OSCE Minsk Group’s serious concern with the escalation of tension at the Karabakh conflict zone, and added that the mediators discussed this matter during their talks with the president and the defense minister of Azerbaijan.

“We must do everything possible so that such a thing will not happen again,” noted the Minsk Group Russian co-chair. “We will do everything depending on us to ease the tension.”

Also, Igor Popov noted that the co-chairs’ most recent message to the conflicting parties had aimed to reduce tension at the line of contact.
