YEREVAN. – The National Statistical Service of Armenia website informs that the number of hotels in the country has increased by 142 within two years, from 409 to 551—of which 302 being in capital city Yerevan, according to Past (Fact) newspaper.

As of 2016, there are 8,523 hotel rooms in these 551 hotels, and 3,906 of these rooms are in Yerevan.

Even though the number of ordinary, luxury, and deluxe rooms in these hotels has increased, the number of semi-deluxe rooms has decreased over the course of two years.

“One conclusion can be made from this: Businessmen have realized that people either want a luxurious [hotel] room in our country, or they make use of [hotel] rooms with minimal facilities, due to the lack of money,” wrote Past.
