YEREVAN.  –   Positive changes are apparent in Armenia’s economy, President Serzh Sargsyan said during a program on Armenia TV, adding that the work of Armenian PM Karen Karapetyan’s  government should be assessed positively.

Speaking about the promise of the Armenian government to attract $3 billion investments in the next years, the President said: "I think the main thing is a tendency. And it is positive. We are dealing with processes, people, and we can not reconsider all the processes. That's why we are predicting. Of course, we should not lose touch with reality, but I'm talking about another thing: I see positive changes in the economy. I see opportunities to increase investments.”
Sargsyan also answered the question about not always fulfilled promises of former governments, including the minimum wage and economic growth.
"Firstly, when I was elected as president for the second term I did not mention any figures. Those figures that you heard from others are recorded in the 2013 Government program, which was approved by the parliament. Many indicators have been fulfilled here. Indicators on economic growth are fulfilled up to the end.
“The governement has promised and I have approved that the minimum wage should double. At that time the minimum wage was AMD 32,500, and last year it was AMD 55,000 thousand, it grew by 1.7 times, 0.3 time less that it has been promised,” the President noted.
