The foreign ministers of CSTO member states confirmed that contacts with NATO are built taking into account the allied obligations under the treaty, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said following the meeting of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers.

The ministers were briefed on what is happening within the framework of the Russia-NATO Council, Lavrov said, adding “we were told about the contacts developing between our partners and NATO”.

“Contacts with NATO are of course carried out on the basis that we all have allied obligations under the collective security treaty. All partners confirmed this,” Lavrov added.
