YEREVAN. – The Prime Minister of Armenia, Karen Karapetyan, on Friday received president Gudrun Mosler-Törnström of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (CoE).

First, Karapetyan underscored Mosler-Törnström’s visit to Armenia and participation in the event devoted to the 20th anniversary of local authorities in the country, press office of the government of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. In the PM’s words, Armenia lauds its cooperation with the CoE and actively participates in the activities of all statutory and advisory bodies of this organization. 

Mosler-Törnström, for her part, considered Armenia’s collaboration with the CoE Congress of Local and Regional Authorities as productive, and noted that the country is a reliable partner to them.

Subsequently, the interlocutors exchanged views on the avenues for the strengthening of local democracy in Armenia.

In addition, Karen Karapetyan presented the logic behind the territorial administration and local self-government reforms which the Armenian government has launched, and thanked the aforesaid CoE congress for its permanent assistance to these reforms.
